­  An immunization campaign among IDPs started in September 7th to be finished in September 25th. The campaign involved immunizing all children aged 9 months to 15 years against Measles as well as immunizing those aged 5-15 years against Polio.

­  Meeting of cholera preparedness committee conducted at the Ministry level with the Minister of Health and at the DOH level with the Director General of Health in Duhok

­  Six cardiac catheterization processes had been done for patients from IDPs with one open heart surgery at Duhok Heart Center

­  Renal dialysis was done for 29 patients at Duhok Kidney Diseases Center.

­  four newly diagnosed patients with Thalassemia were recorded in Thalassemia center

 

 

 

 

Preventive Health Services

­  60967 children aged 9 months to 15 years had been vaccinated against measles, and 40496 aged 5-15 years vaccinated against polio within the immunization campaign conducted for IDPs.

­  603 under five children screened for Growth monitoring. Among them 44 were moderately underweight and 6 severely underweight.

­  Two suspected cases of measles and one AFP case among IDPs had been reported and samples taken for confirmation.  

 

 

 

Risks & Challenges

mPoor hygiene and sanitation together with high rate of diarrhea related syndrome, among the IDPs is an alarming for the risk of Cholera.

mShortage of drugs, vaccines and medical supplies.

mShortage in the number of healthcare workers.

mIncreasing the budget of DOH-Duhok for the current situation

mProvision of sufficient amount of hygiene kits

mAmbulances (20)

mMobile under tent health centers and field hospitals

mRecruitment of new health workers as well as financial support.
