Commemorated the World Day of AIDS

The Directorate Health Prevention of Duhok had commemorated World Day of AIDS, through undertaking various activities and provides special seminars on the disease are due to educational awareness of the various societies.

Dr. Serwan Mohammed, director of the Health Prevention explained they have conducted more than 72 000 check to AIDS in Duhokand according to the Ministry Health of the Kurdistan Region were recorded 17 cases of AIDS in 2013 in the three provinces, and no record of any cases in Duhok through this year.

On the modes of HIV transmission, Dr. Sagvan Hassan declared on the main causes that transmits of the disease is the sexual direct contact if one of the parties and the use of infected needles contaminated with the virus, such as grooming tools and non-sterile tattoo, and from an infected mother to her baby during the period pregnancy or lactation.
